Flexible Kitchen faucet design for HCG (sanitary ware company)

KF6233 KITCHEN FAUCET

This is a project I was in charge when working in the sanitary company. Because it is an experimental project, I was required to use pipes in order to cost down. It is a Kitchen Multiple Spindle Unleaded Faucet.Two rotating mechanisms can make the reaching range double.

DESIGN PROCESS

Data collection & analysis

Gathering the components data and the styles of the pipe. All of these can influence the design and cost.  

Brainstorming

Base on the data I gathered, trying to think about any possibility and the main concept.

Sketches 

Using the pipe image and available mechanism to design kitchen faucets, the color parts are made by rubber to antislip, tried different shapes and details.

3D modeling 

Built 3D model, see how it looks like and how it works. Decide the dimension at this step.

Prototyping 

Make models to see the details and adjust design. The water outlet need redesign after we checked the water appearance. 

Testing

Water volume test & spray test.Because of several reasons such as cost, testing rules, functionality, the design was adjusted many times. I tried to find the balance.

Patent Apply

Apply the new style patent. My company was willing to help with the application. I'm glad to have the chance to go through it.

MAIN CONCEPT

After many tests, the final form was confirmed, there are two main spindles which let the faucet have larger reachable range to adapt various condition in the kitchen. And after the design, I also involved in the produce process,production management and patent application.

Normal mode, 360 degrees. use only one axis.
